My Top 10 Favorite things about Fishing in Virginia by Jeff Banko
As it seems it is always this time of year that the various "Top Ten" list come out I figured I'd put together my own list of what my top 10 favorite things about fishing in Virginia are. I know it's kind of corny but hey it's my site so I can do it. Here they are:
10) Driving the back roads from my home to Buggs Island or Lake Gaston at 3:00 in the morning to get to a tournament launch. Most of the time the view of the sky is just awesome.
9) Being able to call my Northern friends in the middle of the winter to brag about the nice one I just caught on the James.
8) Having trophy largemouth, smallmouth, striper, catfish, etc... waters all within an hour of my house.
7) FISHINGVA.COM, again it's my site, you didn't think it wouldn't make the list did you.
6) Buggs Island in the Spring when the water is at 302 or above. Pitching and flipping heaven.
5) Launching at Briery Creek before sunrise and catching them on topwaters.
4) The James River, I know it is still down but if this is what it is like when it is down I can't wait for the good times.
3) I guess this is not Virginia specific but I just love the smell of a two stroke firing up at 6:00 a.m.
2) Seeing Bald Eagles while fishing many of our waters.
1) Briery, Briery, Briery, Ahhhh how awesome it is...
