About the Site

Q) Why was the site created?

A) To give the freshwater fisher men and women in Virginia a place to go and share there fishing successes and failures with others. 

Q) Aren’t there other sites that do this?

A)  Yes, but what sets this site apart is how the fishing reports are organized by Location, Month, and Year.  The other sites use message forums to collect their reports which can leave the good quality fishing info. you want buried in a long thread of messages.  Essentially the idea behind FISHINGVA.COM was to provide a place for people to post fishing reports where those reports could be EASILY searched.  

Q) Is there a way I can interact more directly with others using this site?

A) Yes, there is also a message board that is for this site.  Use that to meet others, ask questions on anything fishing related, etc…

Q) Will I have to deal with people who make insulting comments or use profanity or other suggestive language on this site?

A) Absolutely not.  That is probably the second biggest reason this site was created.  A lot of the other sites do not monitor the activity of their message boards or do not do it enough.  This leads to some obnoxious posting which is just not right.  I want this site to be friendly to all and viewable by any one of any age so I will actively moderate the reports and the message board.  This means personal attacks, excessive foul language, etc. in post will not be tolerated and will be removed from the site and in some cases the offending poster may be banned.

About the Webmaster

My name is Jeff Banko and I am the creator and webmaster for WWW.FISHINGVA.COM.  Above I told you about the site and why I created it now let me tell you a little about myself.

     I am a lifelong addict of fishing.  I have been fishing since I was probably 3 or 4 years old thanks to my father.  I have fished and do fish for many different species but my love is bass fishing.  I do that competitively with the Shady-tree Bassmasters fishing club of the VA B.A.S.S. Region 6. 

     By profession I am an Information Technology Project Manager.

I use rods and reels.

My boat is a    21sx.

I am a member of and fish out of Va B.A.S.S. Federation Region 6 affiliated club Shady Tree Bassmasters.
