Funny, I too did the trip with my dad and we went today to Sandy. Caught 11 between us, all on the wacky worm and believe it or not, did so trolling in 15+ feet of water. A really wierd day, the bass were in the middle of the lake chasing what I guess were small blue gil. I landed a 14" bass and it spit out a partial eaten blue gil on the deck of my john boat.

I took the old man out Sunday for the annual father son trip and we had a pretty good day. Found most of the fish on some type of wood. All bass total 9 were within the slot. Dad's beetle spin worked as usual, with believe it or not about a 3 pound channel cat. His old Johnson Century reel was screaming. Talked to others along with VA's finest,(Game Warden) everyone having a slow day. Will hit it again this weekend. Tightlines

I got on the water about 6 and fished until 4. I fished the shallows (and the grass line) using senkos, big o, buzzbait and rapala until 10:30. The sun came out from the clouds about 9 and the bite slowed down. I tried deep diving crankbaits and carolina rigs off of the main lake points. I did get a couple of hits off of the carolina rig and a bump off of the crankbait but no fish. I fished by the dam and caught 2 off of a senko but nothing off of any crankbait. I went underneath the bridge and fished there from 2 to 4. the temp there was 91 and 92 degrees. I kept seeing baitfish or bream or something breaking on top of the water. I kept casting everything to them but nothing. and every now and then there were be a big splash or two right in the middle of the schooling fish like a bass was feeding on them. And I'll cast right back there and nothing. And it was going on all over the place in front on the bridge and beyond there. Does anybody know what is going on there? I ended up with 24 bass

We got on the water around 5:45 and there were only 4 other boats. It was drizzling a little and a bit windy. By the time we came off of the water around 2 it was partly cloudy and the parking lot was packed. This is a good lake for numbers. My partner and I caught over 35 bass with 5 being in the 14 - 20" slot limit. We caught them on senko, spinner bait, texas rig worm, rapala, and curly tail grubs. I caught a chain about 3lb plus off of a shad rap. That was the only bit on that shad rap.

When we arrived at the ramp around 6:15 there were 6 trailers in the parking lot. It had been RAINING the night before and it was drizzling. By the time we left around 4:15, the parking lot was full. My partner & I caught over 35 bass with 1 3lber and a couple of 2lbers. We caught them off of spinnerbait, senko, rapala and worm. I had a 7lb plus cat to hit my senko. When he first hit and ran with it I was excited thinking I had the monster bass. (: He put up a good fight. It took me about 5 minutes to get him in. I also lost something good fishing the standing timber at the upper end of the lake on a worm. But it could have been just a 12" that got me tangled up in the timber
