Weather was awesome. I had high hopes after Waynes report but I thought the fishing was kind of tough. All the bass were small although I did see a bruiser cruising but it wouldnt bite. Best fish of the day was a huge chain pickeral about 5 lbs. Would have been a citation if it had not shaken off the crank bait at the boat as I was admiring it. I should have brought a net. Got a nice farmers tan.

Fished the last 2 late afternoons. Tuesday caught 5 bass to 5.0lbs. Wednesday, 3 bass and a catfish. 5 lber had the head and one front leg of a huge bull frog sticking out of her gullet. Amazing how they dont even finish swallowing before they are feeding again. She hit that frog from behind by the way it was going down. Still not catching the numbers but the ones I am catching are good size. I have caught post-spawn fish but i dont think they have all gone shallow yet. Im just not getting the numbers on the banks yet.

I have not caught the numbers lately but all the bass I have caught have been big. I took a buddy with me today and he did not catch anything. I had a few bites that didnt get that big worm all the way down so I missed the hook set. I saw one bass hanging out and threw to it. I shakey headed that big worm in front of him and he bit but didnt get the hook. He didnt move and I tried a few more times but he wasnt having it. These things may be smarter than we think.

I dont get it. I fished for two hours with only one fish making a glancing smack and a miss at my bait. Fish were feeding heavily and breaking water all over but they didnt want what I was throwing. I saw one very large bass explode on something and come all the way out of the water with a huge splash. Scared me lol. I wont guess on what it weighed but looked like a trophy to me. A co-worker of mine fished Hunting Run yesterday in the cold. They caught 15 dinks and a catfish and bluegill or two.

I fished a jig for about 1 minute. Just not comfortable with a jig. Switched back to my Spring "go to" bait and caught a 1 lber on the first cast with it. Fished with it another 30 minutes and caught a 4.5 lber that I think was the same fish I caught the other day. Same spot. About 10' from the bank in a cove. First two were in pond 2. Saw a fish bust in pond 3 and ran over to cast to it. After 3 casts I caught the 2.5 lber. By then my hands were freezing so I gave up.
