Lower James River
Clear Bluebird Sky with some wind at times
Muddy, outgoing tide most of the time
Appomattox - Mouth of the old channel, and then about a mile past I-95 on the man made side.
2 lmb
Jig and Trailer, Spinner, weightless Fluke
0-10'
Worked baits through wood laydowns
Both were about 2 lbs each, one came off an area of chunk rock, and the other from the outside edge of a laydown. I did not realize it until after I got loaded on the trailer, but apparently there was a woman's T going on. While speaking with one boater about what a tuff day it was, I said "I almost always pull one off this tree, but today - nothing". After I moved off of it I watched her pull up to it, and pull one off. I didn't see what kind of size it had to it, but it went into the well. So congrats to her.

Lower James River
sunny, 83*. Great weather
Normal, 80* water temp., some wind caused us to use the 2 anchor system to keep the boat still
Dutch gap down to Jones Neck loop. Main river channels and flats. Around the sunken barge leading up to the cut to the barge pits. I hate that spot because I always get snagged there, but it does produce big cats.
Catfish and bass
Live eels for cats and Senkos for bass
I caught 3 catfish today. Biggest only went 7lbs. My buddy got bored and started throwing a Senko near shoreline. He caught a nice looking bass. Fishing could have been better, but we DID catch fish, and thats what its all about. Only saw a couple of other boats in 5 hours of fishing the main river. I suspect high gas prices are hurting the big motor boys. Im glad I only need a 25HP these days. Bad enough my Jeep only gets 14MPG, without the boat.
