Started out with a 4" finesse worm....kept getting bluegill hits tearing the tail off my worm so I figured what the heck, I wouldn't mind catching a mess of bluegills....Switched to smaller jigs and wouldn't ya know, I can't buy a bite...caught one decent sized one but gave up after that...back to bass fishing (wasted about an hour doing the bluegill thing). Couldn't buy a bass bite but had two BIG bowfins on a spinner bait. Lost both of them at the boat (no trailer hook) but got good fights out of them....both around 6-7lbs. The 2nd one gave me a good 2 minute fight with some great runs.....and ended up doing a kamikaze head-first battering ram into the side of my jonboat, which threw the hook. It was louder than if I'd dropped a 10lbs anchor in the boat! I didn't mind both fish getting off at the boat as I didn't really fancy sticking my fingers in those mouths to remove the hook....but I woulda liked to have gotten pictures.
