A friend and I fished about 9 1/2 hours with some success where the bottom dropped from 3 to 7 feet at timber edges. The feeder creeks were muddy and we only caught two in the shallow stumps. Our total catch was 113 bass all less than three pounds and two shellcrackers with a couple of pickerel bite-offs. Best producing lure again was the wacky rigged finesse worm.

Fished Briery this morning. Had a decent day. Caught fifteen, average size around 2 lbs, lost a lot more than that. Prevalent pattern was Senkos fished standard soft jerkbait style out over deeper grass beds. Also caught a few fish on the weedless wacky rigged trick worms. These were also caught out over the grass beds. Key today seemed to be to fish really long cast. Fish were skittish so nothing would hit anywhere near the canoe. That is why the Senkos worked so well you can cast them a mile. That is also why I lost way more fish then I landed. Really hard to get a good hook set on them in a canoe when you have those long cast.

Fished Briery yesterday from 5:30 a.m. until around 1:00. Did not have that great a day. Caught total of 15 fish with the largest going 4.5. Fish were caught scattered throughout the day and all were deep. Some caught on Carolina rigged Zellamander and the rest on 10 and 16 foot deep diving crankbaits. Weather was weird and I think a front came throught that messed things up. From 6:00 until almost 9:30 it was cold out and there was a heavy fog over the lake so I am assuming a cold front was there. Will try again tomorrow bright and early. Hopefully fish will be hitting on finesse combos again.

Water clarity 2', didn't have a thermometer for water temp, but it was warmer than the air temp. Windy again which made lure presentation difficult. A friend and I fished from 8:00 til 5:30, he caught 46 bass and 6 pickerel, I caught 47 bass and one bluegill. Most productive lure was the wacky rigged finesse worm and second most productive lure was the Rat-L-Trap. Pattern was working the lures over submerged grass in 3'-6' depths. The feeder creeks were getting dingy from runoff and some bass were on stumps on the channel drops at the same depths.

I headed up to Briery on Thursday. We got there early around 6am and we were the only ones at the 701 ramp. It was a perfect morning cool and no wind. The forecast was for 15-20mph so I was glad the weatherman was wrong. We had gone up to catch some big bream but we decided to check out the bass on some topwater first. Had pretty good luck on floating worms and spook type baits. Caught maybe a dozen or so and missed a bunch more that blew up on the bait and missed it. After an hour of bass fishing we went after the bream. I took my ultra light rod with 4lb test. Mistake!! I didnt have enough rod to get these things up before they wrapped me around somthing. I lost quite a few but we did catch many monster sized bream. What a blast these things are to catch. Anyway by 10:00 or so the weather man was right. the wind was howling and there were whitecaps out on the lake so we called it a day.
