Comments

We were on the water early, 0345 and made our way to the southend midway. Topwater water bite was slow I only had three blow up on the buzzbait and partner had one. All fish missed the baits even with trailer hooks. Some of the blowup sounded like big fish. Once the sun was up that was it. Partners fish were the biggest of the day, one 4.5, 5 and 5.5. fishing pig and jigs. He had one the biggest on a horney tad fishing the dollar pads. Of my 12 biggest about 3.5 to 4 but only one was about a pound. Would love to have a day like that on tourney days. We were off the water by 11 to hot. Another friend was there and had one that was 5.9 and 221/4 for length citation. Well vacation is over and its back to long hours. Tightlines. Jeff lets hook up soon.

Fished with Jeff K today. Day started out pretty good caught 4 fish in our first spot, it then died for the rest of the day but we still scraped out 4 more. No big fish though I did lose two that felt good. End of the day caount I caught 5 on jigs. Jeff K caught 3 on flukes and also a pickerel. Oh well we had fun even though it was rough going.

10' Culprit Red Shad worm

Comments

1st LMB was smaller in length than the Culprit worm I was using!! Went on point with probably a 1/2 dozen solid hits with only fragmented worms to show! The biggest of the day, boiled the water and then went Southbound? Not a bad day!!!!

buzzbait, frog, Jigs and trailer, 11" worm,

Method

Started the day off throwing the buzzbaut. No takers on that so switched to throwing jig along the channel. Caught five this way biggest going around 4#s, others all around 2#s. Then worked my way over to another channel area I like. Threw the 11" worm on a c-rig. Caught 5 on that also all good size around 3 - 3.5#s also lost several that felt bigger. Finally went to the end of the lake and threw a senko over the grass. caught a few small ones and then one more that went 3.5#s. Ended the day working my way back to the launch throwing a frog on assorted pad along the way. Lost a real nice one, probably a 6 - 7 pounder doing that.

Comments

Not a bad day considering I tended to stay with the tactics I use for bigger fish. Probably 90% of the time I was throwing the jig or the big worm. Lost several fish that felt real big on the C-rigged worm. I think I am wasting my knots setting the hook too hard when I use that rig. I get soused to the cross their eyes hookset needed for the jigs that i forget to dial it down a little bit for the other methods. Oh well live and learn.
