Went out this evening to see if the bass had full moon fever. It was ok . Had a couple of bigger fish hit the crank and somehow miss the double trebles. Dont know how, they usually get a face full of hooks. The last two years my biggest fish have been in late April. Im having a little trouble figuring out what the fish do post spawn.

The fish were caught on the laydowns except for the 4 that were caught by the dam. I lost 2 nice fish that took my Big O & Bandit 100 into the wood and broke my line. So if you catch a bass with either a Big O or a Bandit in it's mouth could you send me back my lures (: I didn't get but 1 bite in the cove halfway down to the left with the stumps and in the back with the stumps. I'm not sure if it was my late start or a half dozen or so boats beat me to these spots.

I would agree but I still dont believe in that thing totally. According to that I have caught fish when I shouldnt and shouldnt when I should have. Anyway it was a nice evening. Awesome sunset.

Took the wife out....I didn't want to go out that early in the afternoon but she wanted to find some tanning time.... I'm glad we did because oddly we caught 90% of our fish in the dead of the afternoon (2-4pm) and only a couple once the sun started to set. Wife caught 3 fish including the big fish which was a 2lbs bass that looked like she'd just spawned. I ended up with 5 fish, one bass...the rest were pickerel. Lost one bass and a huge pickerel at the boat. All on trick worms. It was odd how the bite kind of turned off around 5pm.

Fished out of watkins looking for some good smallie action. I worked the topwater pretty hard all day and connected with a fair amount of fish all small. The spinnerbait was getting swiped at but not really connecting with fish, even with the trailer. I also caught a 4-5 pound channel cat on a white grub. The biggest smallie and largemouth both were around 1 and a half. I caught a bunch of fish including kamikaze bluegills on top. hopefully i'll connect on a big fish in my next few trips.

Went at dead low tide, the river was waaaaay out I am guessing due to the wind. I was able to squeeze out five keeper size fish, but the majority were under 12", even caught one that went less than 4".

I got to the lake at 10:30 and had to wait until 11:30 to fish. While backing down the old road bed at the bridge, I slipped off the edge of the road and got hung up on the frame of my truck. I called a wrecker and he arrived in about 1/2 hour and after some pulling and tugging, I was back on the roadway. Several vehicles were parked along the side of the old roadway and two of them were not parked straight. It was a little tight getting by them. I think I'll use the other ramp next time there are vehicles taking up too much room at the bridge.

My sis has been bugging me to take her fishing so I let her tag along today. I gave her a tub of nightcrawlers and let her have at it. She caught 51 sunfish and a crappie. I caught a few bass during the storm. Most on the magic spinner. One nice one was 4.5lbs. Crappie on the beetle spin. Caught my first two bullhead catfish. Never even seen one before. They were stocky and strong. They struck and fought like crazy. One bit on a spinner and the other on a crank. I thought it was weird.

I only caught one fish tonight but I cant complain cause it was a beauty. I have found big fish around the small black drainage pipes that enter the pond. I really dont think its water flow. I think the bass are just relating to whatever cover they find. I was surprised to catch this pre-spawn bass. I thought the last would have spawned on the last full moon. As you can see from the pic I posted she had a bloody tail and was still bulging full of eggs. I released her where I caught her.

Ran out after work today....The bite was a little different today, I had been tearing them up on a weightless trick worm jerked slightly under the surface....today the fish I caught were when I let the worm sink a little more and twitched slower. 2 bass and a pickerel. Biggest bass was maybe 1.5 lbs...like most Harrison fish, they were short and chunky. Plenty of fish hitting on top of the water when I left but no takers. Couldn't get the boat on the trailer at dusk, had to roll up my pants legs and go about thigh deep to get it on....man I'm glad the water was warm.

Slow on the creature. Med to Fast on the spinner/buzz. The weather has this years Comstock Spawn all screwed up. Some fish are still prespawn, some are spawning, some already have fry. I targeted the post spawn fish holding in structure. The males were in shallow structure, the females were in the 6'+ structure. So its a "pick your spring fishing pattern". All but 3 fish were caught with a weightless creaturebait. The remaining 3 were on a BooYa Char Double Willow. No luck on the Black Buzzer.

I tried fishing another of the ponds at the golf course this evening. I had tried it once before in early spring with no luck but a neighbor told me he caught an 11.5lber there last year so I was on it. I caught a few fish to 2lbs shallow. Probably buck bass protecting beds. I have a feeling the big females have moved off and are recouperating before they start feeding heavily again. I have had good luck any where on these ponds where a small drainage pipe flows into the pond. I cast the beetle over a small pipe tonight and got bit as soon as it hit the water. I could feel it was a good fish. I got it to the bank and half way out of the water. I could have fit my fist in its mouth. I was trying to lip the fish and almost had it. I was touching the fish when the beetle popped out. The fish fell back into about 4 inches of water on its side. I jumped down on my stomach and tried to grab the fish with my bare hands. Had it by the tail but it just slipped right away. %$#@!!!

That was my only bite. I tried flippin a kreature at a few laydowns and around some pads. Tried the senko around pads and under some docks. Was my first time there. I expected more action early since the weather was cloudy and stable. I thought they would be in the shallows. Next time I go there, I think I will try the western side. I did not see much lilypads where I was, I like to fish the pads, stumps, and laydowns. That's it. Joefroggy

Fished the hooter tournament this past weekend. Seemed like everybody caught fish. We ended up catching 12 or 13 bass for the day. Just didn't catch many with any size. Caught three keeper ( over 14 inches) for a little over 7lbs . Lost one that was about 3 pounds just didn't have a good hookset on him. Caught all fish on outgoing tide. Bite died after incoming started. Winning weight was 18 lbs and some change. Alot of good limits were brought in. The appoxmatics topwater was working well from what i heard. didn't have alot of success so there was no successful pattern to establish. just junked fish all tournament.

Just posting here as something really crazy happened. I was walking the dog with a big old Zara Spook when I saw a big roll on my spook and it disapeared... Started reeling and the taker was huge obviously as I could not budge him. As I worked him near our little john boat, a HUGE turtle appeared. It was crazy! I have never seen a turtle snag a topwater lure before. What a HUGEMONGOUS pain in the butt getting him off my spook. He used his front feet to smack the pliers away every time I tried to grab the spook. He wasted about 15 minutes of my prime fishing time! Pretty funny though....
