Fished the chick today. put in at route 5 and worked my way through a couple of the lower creeks caught fish in pretty much every creek i went in and didn't establish any pattern. Just went out there and had fun. Biggest fish was around 3lbs. Best five would have gone close to 10 or 11 pounds. not a ton of big fish but just was fun to go fishing. Didn't make it to the pads but i'm sure those fish were ready to be caught too. Easy to catch fish right now, if it looks like it will hold a fish it proably does just not always big. lol

Weedless wacky rigged the worms on the outside grass edges and creek channel edges. Slow rolled the Trap in the middle of the creek channels.
Caught 11 of the bass at midlake and the rest at the upper end. The water level looks to be about 2' low with lots of stumps showing. I quit fishing when storms surrounded the lake and the wind picked up.

We got on the water about 3:45 and fished until 8:30. We went left under the bridge and water the drops to 11'. That area looks promising despite the shore line fisherpersons there. We proceeded through a cut and worked around there. We got a few strikes but no fish. We were throwing crankbaits, spinnerbaits & worm. We stayed on that side of the bridge for 45 minutes or so and then went back under the bridge. I ended up with 2 bass (5.1 lb & 1.4 lb) and my partner didn't catch a thing (He lost 2 bass off of worm that were easily 3 + lbs a piece. As always my fish & his bites were from the launch to about 1200y from the bend to the left heading from the launch.
Each time that I've gone out there I catch a decent fish but I would like to catch some numbers, especially from a place that looks REAL GOOD.

I fished most of the shore line (& down timber) around the lake (40 acres) and then the dropoffs off of the flats. I caught something off of everything. The 3lber came off of the chatterbait and I lost the chatterbait & a bandit 200 to a couple of 3 lbers. I caught some 1 - 2 lbers. It's obvious that this place don't get a lot of pressure.

Caught one bass (about a pound) and had another good hit but couldn't set the hook. When I was about 100-150 yards from the Deep Bottom ramp I felt my line hit a log and hang into it....or so I thought. FISH ON! BIIIIG FISH!! It was a bowfin and I swear it weighed over 10lbs....Honestly I came home to see what the state record was after I fought it because it MAY have gone over 16lbs....it was huge. It threw the hook after I let it play too long....I didn't have a camera nor want to pick it up so I just kind of let it stay in the water too long....

Most of the hits I got were mosquitos hitting me. Missed several strikes on surface lures and left the lake at 12 to try Briery Creek. Night running lights and a blacklight sure did attract the mosquitos. I think they are immune to OFF with DEET.

middle to the banks
It was really too hot to fish so I waited til 8 and decided to try buzz baits. Tried the white one half way around the pond with no takers. Switched to the black one and got bit on the first cast. I lost probably 4 more because I tried to set the hook on the blow up. I know with topwater you are supposed to wait for the fish to take it and feel tension first but as soon as i see the fish blow up my arm automatically goes swingin. I cant help it. This is the first year I have used topwaters with any success so I am just getting used to it but it sure is fun to see. ALL fish were at least 10 or more from the bank in deeper water. Had a little surprise when I walked around a stand of cattails and found myself staring at the business end of a big skunk about 6 ft away. I just backed away slowly.

Bandit 100, Big O, Texas Rig Worm, wacky worm, 2" curly tail jig, big & small beetle spin
My brother came down from NJ and he wanted to go smallmouth fishing. It's been 5 years since we went smallmouth (we went largemouth fishing 2 weeks ago), so we went back to Cartersville and motored up river. He caught about 35 smallies with 2 about 1.5 lbs and I caught 21, all under 12" but it was fun. We also caught 3 bream each. We were using Bandit 100, Big O, T-Rig worm, wacky worm, 2" curly tail jig, beetle spin (small & large one). His 2 big ones came off of the Texas-Rig worm (6")and the Big Beetle Spin. My brother was getting more bites off of the 6" worm than the 4" worm. Most of the fish came off of the 2" curly tail jig. You could see some nice fish swimming by but they weren't interested in anything.

Was just kinda screwin around today...did a little carp fishing and a little bass fishing...no carp, just a small catfish on corn. Switched to bass fishing around 9:30 with no luck until I tied on a yellow/blue spinner bait. Tossed against a rock and it was hit immediately...and after about 1-2 tugs, the fish jumped and threw the hook. It was a nice one, probably 3lbs.....50 yards down the shore later I was hooked into another one which again was about 3lbs. I landed that one. Pretty fish, he was longer than the short stumpy bass I'm used to catching. A few yards down the shore line from that one, I hooked into another, about the same size...lost him when he threw the hook too. I really need to invest in some trailer hooks. Had I landed all 3 of these fish I woulda done pretty well in a tournament, probably about 10lbs or so....fortunately for these fish, I'm me and I suck at fishing :) On a funny sidenote, I had a backlash in my reel and my spinner bait had sunk to the bottom while I was picking it out.....I got the knot out and was reeling the bait nearly vertical from under the boat and snagged a 5-6 pound catfish through it's side fin....It freaked out and I thought I had a huge bass on :) Goes to show how thick the catfish are in the river.

Sweet corn!

A few trips ago, I came across a HUGE school of carp on the river. I'd seen plenty of them before but man this school was huge...and they were very big fish too.. So knowing how strongly they fight, I have been wanting to go after them....My wife wanted to get out and get a tan, so this was like the perfect fit for both of us. Everything I'd read about said to use either doughballs or corn. A quick look in the pantry showed that we had plenty of corn cans, so corn it was. I really had low expectations....And I forgot this was a holiday weekend so the boat traffic sucked....so many wakes! About an hour in, I felt a little tug and started reeling in a small catfish...I also brought in my wife's line...but noticed that it was staying out...now we only had a small bullet weight on the end so I figured she was either hung up or had a fish on....I untangled my line from hers and told her to start reeling...whatayaknow, she had a carp on! We got it to the boat but I had no net, so I tried to pick it up by the line and swing it into the boat.....which of course broke the line. Fish was about 5-6lbs. She also caught a 2-3lbs catfish....but I was just tickled pink that we actually caught a carp. Now I know they're there...next time I'm going back in the morning when the boats aren't causing waves that pound the shoreline :)
