Place

Hyco N.C.

Weather

Sunny 60 degrees

Water

stained 55-75 degrees

Locations

most of the lake where the water was above 62.

Fish

28 bass on 2/27, 29 bass and 1 crappie on 2/28

Lures

finesse worm, Pop-R, spinnerbait, crankbait

Depth

2'-20'

Method

Weedless wacky rigged the finesse worm. Fished areas of the lake with at least 62 degree water and used a Spring pattern. Did not see any bedding bass but some were so shallow they may be getting ready.

Comments

Just had to fish some warm water. Hyco has a coal fired electrical generating plant and is about the same driving distance as Buggs. The water entering the lake from the plant was 75 and some non current coves were 55.

Weather

Winds forcasted 10-15. RIGHT! It was more like twice that!

Water

choppy at best. Straight stretches of river in line with the wind had rollin white caps. Not fun in my little boat.

Locations

295 bridge to 288 bridge

Fish

Catfish. most 5 lbers. Biggest was 15lbs.

Lures

cut eel

Depth

Method

I could not locate big fish today. Usually february I can find them shallow near cover. All the fish I caught today were on the one rod that I cast into the channel. I saw Brandon from a catfish site out there in a Jon boat. I know he had it rough in the waves.

Method

Fished with Rich, Bill, Mike, 1mo and several other guys saturday. The water really muddied up after the rains a couple days ago. Jeff H and I caught 3 fish all day. Windy, Muddy cold water and incoming tide makes for tough fishin. The day started off really bad when my motor let go. I put it back on the trailer and jumped in the boat with Jeff H. I did end up catching a nice 6 lb 10 oz bass that Bill took a picture of. (On the photos page at the bottom)

Fished the Barge Pits today and caught 6 fish. Biggest one was under 2 pounds. Most were caught on finesse worm. It was not to bad out today since the wind wasnt gale force as usual. If you want to fish meades pit you are gonna need a big weight on your worm........almost half of it has ice.

Fished a tournament out of rockahock saturday. Cold and tuff conditions for us. The water had drop to 36 when it usually over 40 this time of year. proably because of the snow we got on thursday. Anyways really tough tournament proably one of the toughest i have fished. Knew where the fish where just couldn't get them to hit anything. Out of all the boats only 4 fish where caught total. Winning weight was 6 lbs and some change i believe. 2 fish were caught buy one boat and 2 by another. All fish were caught from 1-3 in the afternoon. Winning pattern was slow moving crankbait and just covering alot of water.
