Comments

Weather was HORRIBLE! Friday it rained literally ALL DAY LONG from sunup to sundown. $ of us on the canoe trip and we caught a total of (4) smallies. Saturday was overcast with gusts up to 40 MPH. We would be sitting anchored in the canoe and a gust would literally hit us and almost flip us over. Only (3) smallies caught all day Saturday. All on a COMET (Spin-Min). Talked to a guide Thursday night when we go there and they had caught (3) smallies over 20" that day and a muskie and a walleye, so I was pumped, but seems that we were a day late and the weather was pretty unstable. Beautiful place though! I will go back and it was a great time catching trout in the streams. My buddy caught a NICE 18" rainbow Sunday.

Comments

Left my house. Cast netted for Live Bait. Nada. Pulled up on the 295 Bridge and anchored up. Thought we were going to have a banner night when we both pulled up stripers within 20 minutes of being there....ehh....no. Went to the Route 10 bridge. Lots of returns on the sonar no bites. Ran everything I had at every depth in the water column. Went to the Cement Piers, same thing. Had some small tugs on the fluke. No takers. Headed back to the house. What a adventure! Low Tide, Pitch plack, Broken Flashlight! Ground meet Keel.

Place

Buggs Island (Kerr Lake)

Weather

bluebird skies and WINDY

Water

Slightly stained

Locations

Insland Creek and Grassy Creek areas

4 Largemouth Bass

Lures

(1 fish) firetiger 200 bandit cranker (2 fish) green pumkin Ol Monster worms (1 fish) 1/2 ounce pumpkin jig with trailer

Depth

1' - 22'

Method

Worked everything real slow. The bite was VERY slow. I guess after the cold front and the first frost of the year, the fish were kind of inactive. All fish except the one on the jig were shorties. Think it was just a slow day in general. Talked to a guy who said that he was in a 50 boat tournie and the biggest sack was just over 12 pounds.

The water level had dropped about 6" overnight. The last 12 bass (2 lbs. - 4 lbs. )were caught in a small area while working the weedless wacky Trick worm on the bottom in 15' depths. That area had bass chasing baitfish on the surface a few weeks ago.

All right folks, here it goes. Nanny nanny boo boo, Randy and I took it with 10.12 I beleive, and I had big fish for 4 and some change. Congradulations to 1mo'skeeter also for a great showing. Finally caught some VA bass for 7.12 I think. Thanks to everyone for coming out in the less than perfect conditions. Randy and I caught all but one of our fish came frome the same area. Best clue I can give anyone is that there is a small creek off the main river before you get to the first no wake area. There is a dock that goes all the way across the creek with a bridge over the creek channel. The area that the majority came from would not normally be accessable, but due to the high water, there was a little pocket that we were able to get into. There ya go.
